Periodic Vibration Monitoring & Analysis

Periodic vibration monitoring and analysis of rotating equipment as part of implementing a predictive maintenance (PdM) policy.

Yossi Tuchner is a rotating-equipment maintenance expert, certified to ISO-18436 CAT-III.

Numerous studies over the past 30 years show that adopting a PdM policy can save up to 50% of maintenance costs compared with breakdown maintenance or even purely preventive maintenance.

The path to PdM begins with a clear picture of machine condition across the plant. That is the role of periodic vibration monitoring. As a result of this process, machine condition is evaluated in three dimensions:

  1. Overall condition of the machine per ISO-10816
  2. Trend of deterioration and the rate of change over time
  3. Spectral analysis to identify the source of the deterioration (root cause)

With this method you can:

  • Track machine condition efficiently and effectively
  • Identify developing wear and emerging faults
  • Plan maintenance at your convenience not the machine’s
  • Order spare parts just in time instead of holding excess inventory
  • Coordinate work with operations to minimize impact on production availability
