Machine Condition Analysis - Expert Opinion

Yossi Tuchner is a rotating-equipment maintenance expert, the only professional in Israel officially certified to ISO-18436 CAT-III.

Machine condition analysis is a critical process for understanding the technical or operational root cause that shortens machine life, harms product quality, or even creates a safety risk.

During the analysis, comprehensive information is collected from several sources:

  • Vibration analysis of the machine, consisting of:
    • Determining overall machine condition per ISO-10816
    • Spectral analysis to identify the machine’s characteristic vibration frequencies
    • Collecting operating data and, where needed, testing under different operating states to determine the relationship between machine condition and operating conditions
    • Thermographic imaging of machine parts to cross-check vibration findings with friction/heat locations
    • Ultrasonic testing to capture friction and wear data that cannot be gathered by direct contact or conventional vibration monitoring

After all relevant data are collected, a detailed vibration analysis report is issued. The report clearly states:

  • The root cause / source of the problem in the machine
  • The recommended corrective actions to restore long-term healthy operation
  • The recommended time frame for implementing the actions

Tuchner Engineering can also perform the required mechanical work to close the loop and assume full responsibility for the machine and the recommendations.
